DRIVING DIRECTIONS: from Middleton, take HWY10 south 4.5km and turn left onto Nictaux Falls Road. Follow this road 600m to the bridge across the river. Park just beyond the bridge on your left at a very obvious pull-in.

TRAIL DESCRIPTION: follow the paths to next to the dam and pick your way downstream to where the falls cascade around the old bridge abuttments.


The dam and hydro station here were built in the 1930s to provide power to Middleton and surrounding areas. A hiking trail on the right hand side of the river (facing upstream, across the river from the parking area) will also lead you down to the Alpena Rapids further upstream.
