DRIVING DIRECTIONS: from Kentville, follow Main Street/Park Street east towards New Minas, 2.3km; then turn right on the New Minas Connector Road (signs for HWY101). Travel 1.7km to EXIT12 onto HWY101. Merge onto the highway, towards Wolfville/Windsor and travel east 5.8km to EXIT11. Take this exit and turn right onto Greenwich Road. Follow this road 900m and take a right onto Ridge Road. Drive 4.2km along Ridge Road and turn right onto Greenfield Road. Follow this road 1.8km over the Gaspereau River and then turn right at the service station to remain on Greenfield Road. Drive up the hill, 1.9km to Forest Hill Road and turn left. Follow this road 1.7km to its conclusion at a parking lot for the Wolfville Watershed Nature Preserve.
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: continue straight down the road, and follow beyond the triangular shaped gate. Follow this trail for 150m and turn left onto a trail that goes down a gentle slope. Follow this trail 900 meters to the bridge over the falls and walk downstream about 50m for safest egress into the base of the ravine.
There are multiple waterfalls along this brook, the main falls, referrenced with the coordinates, is the lowest falls along the run, with a moderately difficult hike upstream to view the rest. The stream does meet up with the first trail you were on, at the top of the ravine run, so this hike can be done either direction, although Ive always found hiking upstream easier and with much greater photographic possibilities..
Duncanson Brook runs through the Wolfville Watershed Nature Preserve, also known as the Havey Trail, after the original grantee of this land. The foundation of Havey House is located within the boundries of the nature preserve, at 45N03.157 64W19.167. The dam along this trail, was built in 1931 and presents a strange feel to the hike, seeing such an imposing manmade structure fitting into the landscape.
